Three schools to honour frontline heroes in special assembly

Montreal, May 3, 2021 – As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to define all of our lives, three St. Leonard elementary schools: Honoré Mercier, Pierre de Coubertin and Dante are coming together to honour the courage, selflessness and dedication of their local heroes

On  Tuesday, May 4 at 9:30 am local healthcare workers will join firefighters from Firehouse 21 and SPVM officers from Station 42 to participate in a special assembly at Honoré Mercier Elementary School (8280 Nantes). In addition to being frontline heroes, all individuals honoured are also EMSB parents.

Following the ceremony, the honourees will share poignant stories from the past 16 months with the students.

“The pandemic has become a defining moment in the lives of our students and we felt that it was important to show them some of the faces of our COVID-19 heroes,” said Sonia Marotta, Principal of Honoré Mercier Elementary School. “Our frontline workers have gone through so much over the past 15 months and we believe it’s very important that our students not only learn about their lives, but have the opportunity to say thank you for keeping us all safe.”
