Michelangelo International School Showcases Creativity and Critical Thinking at Innovation Fair

Montreal, February 27, 2025 - On the evening of January 30, the vibrant halls of Michelangelo International School in RDP buzzed with excitement as students, teachers, and community members gathered for the annual Innovation Fair. This dynamic event, open to the entire English Montreal School Board community, highlighted the remarkable creativity, problem-solving skills, and interdisciplinary learning fostered through the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP) and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education. The Innovation Fair served as a testament to the IB PYP’s commitment to nurturing inquiry-based learning, critical thinking, and real-world application. EMSB Black History Month Roundup 2025

 Aly Keita On Tuesday, February 4   Gardenview Elementary School in St. Laurent  welcomed  Aly Keita.  He is a multi-talented dancer, acrobat , circus arts and musician, singer, drummer and  director/choreographer. On the side, he holds workshops to children and to adults. He performs    all over Quebec, Ontario and  overseas. Students at Pierre de Coubertin take part in their activity. East Hill Elementary School in RDP adopts the STEAM Pedagogical Approach

Montreal, February 18, 2025 - Big things are happening within STEAM (Science Technology Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) Education at East Hill Elementary School in Rivière des Prairies.  Having successfully completed the first of a three year pilot project, East Hill has formally adopted the STEAM pedagogical approach.  This method favors a collaborative, interdisciplinary, hands-on, process driven, and problem solving oriented approach.  Now in Year Two, East Hill teachers have developed significant additions to its already impressive roster of STEAM focused Learning and Evaluation Situations (LES). The idea is that these LESs, and indeed this STEAM model, can be “embedded” into East Hill’s pedagogical modus operandi, and eventually its very identity. EMSB to kick off Black History Month & Hooked On School Week by honouring the late Dr. Horace I. Goddard

Montreal, February 4, 2025 - The English Montreal School Board will mark Black History Month with programming across the network. On Thursday, February 6 (10:15 am) the EMSB will hold its formal kickoff at Parkdale Elementary School (1475 Deguire) in St. Laurent in the memory of the late Dr. Horace I. Goddard, a former school teacher, principal and head office administrator and a leader in the Black community. This event will also recognize Hooked on Schools Days  (Journées de la perseverance scolaire), highlighting the value of staying in school and encouraging academic success.  On hand will be Réseau Réussite Montréal Liaison and Development Officer Brigid Glustein, a professional resource official from  Une école montréalaise pour tous  of the Ministère de l'Éducation Animator Malik Shaheed will first lead a session for students about anti-racism and diversity. Leadership from the Montreal Black community, the EMSB and Dr. Goddard’s family  will be on hand....
