James Lyng Adult Education Centre Hosts Inspiring Literacy Fair: “Chart Your Course”

Montreal, May 27, 2025- On April 30, James Lyng Adult Education Centre came alive with stories, poetry, and the transformative power of literacy during its annual Literacy Fair, an event that celebrated not only reading and writing but the deeper journey of navigating life through language. Organized by Tina Spiridigliozzi (Principal), Jorge Quiroga (Andragogical Consultant), and Steven Valade (Reclaim Program Manager), the fair embraced the theme “Chart Your Course: Navigating Life with Literacy.”  The Center was beautifully decorated by Ms. Laura Greco, who creatively brought the nautical theme to life with banners, signage, and interactive displays. Marymount Academy International Hits a High Note at Annual Spring Concert

By Alena Hamlett Montreal, May  23, 2025 - On the evening of May 15, 2025, Marymount Academy International hosted its much-anticipated annual Spring Concert at the Côte Saint Luc Aquatic and Community Centre. The venue was packed with proud parents, friends, teachers, and family members, all gathered to celebrate the talents of Marymount’s students. This year’s concert offered an intimate experience, as students performed without a traditional stage. The cozy setup brought the audience closer to the action, making the night feel personal and special. The beautiful spring evening buzzed with excitement as the audience filed into the auditorium and settled into their seats, while the students prepared for the evening’s performances. Parkdale Elementary School introduces a new recess initiative

By Lily Goodman In January, Parkdale Elementary School in St. Laurent launched an exciting new initiative designed to create more thoughtful recess time while also developing leadership skills in older students. The Recess Success Program has 21 Grade 6 students stepping into leadership roles and creating an overall more harmonious recess experience for younger students. The program gives older students a chance to take initiative, build a sense of accountability, and learn to advocate for themselves and others. These students have been trained in leadership and conflict resolution, and now actively participate in younger students' recess periods to provide a fun, productive, and structured recess experience. A few Grade 6 students are assigned to each recess, where they support younger students by suggesting games, ensuring fair play, and promoting kindness. Staff recognized for supporting teacher in his role as Canadian reservist

Montreal, May 27, 2025 –  On behalf of the Vice Chief of Defense Staff ESP (Employer Support Program) Team for the Canadian Armed Forces, Lieutenant-Colonel Joe Nuñez, MMM, CD was at Vincent Massey Collegiate  in Rosemount on May 26  for a very special presentation recognizing staff who supported teacher Vincent Gagnon for his deployment to Latvia and other assignments. Vincent Gagnon The ESP assists reservists when they are requesting time off for training or deployments and employers of reservists to better understand the value of the skills and experiences that their employee will gain through the trainings and deployments.      Three members of the  EMSB personnel   were nominated for recognition: VMC Principal Franca Cristiano, Human Resources Director Ann Watson and Assistant Director of Human Resources Angela Vaudry. Carlyle Takes First Place in OSEntreprendre Competition; Heads to Nationals with Innovative School Marketing Project

By Alena Hamlett Carlyle Elementary School  in Town of Mount Royal has earned first place in the regional round of the prestigious OSEntreprendre Challenge at the elementary school level and is now headed to the national stage to represent its region in the Canada-wide entrepreneurship competition. Celebrating success. à As part of their entrepreneurship project, the students designed Carlyle-branded knapsacks and hoodies to help promote their school. The hoodies were heat-stamped with the Carlyle crest and a unique 105-year insignia and will be raffled off during the anniversary celebration. Meanwhile, the special Carlyle knapsacks will be given to new families during the "Welcome to Kindergarten" event on June 6, as the school greets the next generation of students. The initiative also included a Grade 4 advertising campaign, where students collaborated with local merchants to promote their project. Alouettes star wide receiver Philpot explores his other dream of becoming a chef at Pius Career Centre

Montreal, May 6, 2025 - Montreal Alouettes star wide receiver Tyson Philpot made a special visit to the St. Pius X Career Centre  in Ahuntsic on May 6 to learn more about its culinary program. Growing up in Delta, British Columbia,  the 24 year old said he always loved cooking – so much so in fact that if he was not a professional football player that might be his chosen profession. Tyson  is welcomed by students. Mr. Philpot gained notice after scoring the game-winning touchdown in Montreal's 2023 Grey Cup win to punctuate a six-reception, 63-yard performance. Last season he was off to an extraordinary start  with 58 receptions, 779 yards and five touchdowns in nine games  before injuring his foot in a game against Hamilton and being forced to sit out the rest of the campaign.
