Award-winning writer, actor, director, producer Iris Bahr to speak at HSM Adult Education Centre
Montreal, June 7, 2024 - Award-winning writer, actor, director, producer and host of the hit X-Rae and Near Death podcasts Iris Bahr will speak to students at the HSM Adult Education Centre (3711 de Bullion) in the Plateau on Tuesday, June 11 (6 pm). She is in town to perform at the St-Ambroise Montreal Fringe Festival. Her shows run through June 16 at the Cité-des-Hospitalières at 251 Pine Avenue. Tickets are available here.
Iris has written two humorous memoirs. She also co-authored Book of Leon with comic JB Smoove. Her books have been translated into numerous languages and one is currently being adapted into a feature film.

countless TV shows, Iris is best known for her recurring role on Curb your Enthusiasm, where she plays the Orthodox Jewish Girl who gets stuck on a ski-lift with Larry David, Hacks, The Conners, and her cable series Svetlana, executive produced by Mark Cuban, which she also wrote and directed for two seasons. Her critically acclaimed solo show, "DAI (enough)”, which she also performed at the United Nations for over 100 ambassadors and delegates, had a hit run Off-Broadway, has toured around the world, and won the prestigious Lucille Lortel Award for Best Solo Performance, as well as two Drama Desk and UK Stage Award nominations. Her third solo show I Lost You There premiered at the acclaimed Cherry Lane Theatre in NYC, and her fourth work, DAI 2.0, was live streamed for an online audience during the pandemic. Iris is currently touring with her fifth show, See you Tomorrow and is premiering her newest show Stories from the Brink at the Fringe. See You Tomorrow was just nominated for the 2024 Helen Hayes Award for Outstanding New Play.
Iris is a highly sought after public speaking, writing and acting coach, working with everyone from CEOs and finance executives, to pilots and entrepreneurs prepping for pitches, TED talks or other speaking events, as well as with everyday individuals just looking to improve their communication skills. She utilizes her 20 years of experience as a solo performer and teacher to work from the outside in, garnering long lasting results. She also provides writing services, whether they be helping write clients presentations from scratch or perfecting what they already have. She is available for Skype sessions and has worked with clients across the globe, from NY and LA to Israel and Dubai. Her foreign clients also work with her on their English skills and accent reduction when needed.
As a stand-up comic, Iris has performed both in the US and abroad, including at the Montreal Just for Laughs Comedy Festival. She performs stand-up regularly both in New York City and abroad, accompanied by a Jazz trio, combining her love of comedy and Jazz music, and also hosts a weekly podcast X-RAE, as her alter ego Rae Lynn Caspar White. .
