Remarkable professional dancer from China to perform Lunar New Year Tour
Montreal, February 9, 2026- Leyi Lin, a remarkable professional dancer, came to Canada directly from China five years ago. With over a decade of training in Chinese classical dance, she has experience as a member of a Beijing municipal-level student dance troupe and she spent four years as the main performer at the Montreal Centre of Chinese Cultural Arts and two years teaching chinese classical dance in the Côte Des Neiges dance studios.

Leyi has performed the ''traditional'' cultural dances at several schools to mark the Lunar New Year, thus far Bancroft in the Plateau, Coronation in Côte des Neiges and Gardenview in St. Laurent. Next up is Parkdale Elementary School (1475 Deguire) in St. Lauret on Wed Feb. 11 (9:20 am).
At Bancroft Personal Development and Community Animator Puyung Choy, who invited Ms. Lin, also gave a brief and engaging presentation on ancient calendars and the origins of the Chinese zodiac, helping students better understand the calendar they are most familiar with today. The event was a wonderful blend of education, arts, and entertainment—Chinese style! It concluded with a fun, school wide dance activity and a special moment styling the hair of two kindergarten students with traditional Asian bows. It was truly a “mini Place des Arts” experience right in our school—one the students are sure to remember.
