Remarkable professional dancer from China to perform Lunar New Year Tour

Montreal, January 30, 2026- Leyi Lin, a remarkable professional dancer, came to Canada directly  from China five years ago. She is now a Canadian citizen. With over a decade of training in Chinese classical dance, she has experience as a member of a Beijing municipal-level student dance troupe and she spent four years  as the main performer at the Montreal Centre of Chinese Cultural Arts and two years teaching chinese classical dance in the Côte Des Neiges dance studios.

Leyi will be performing the ''traditional'' cultural dances at several schools to mark the Lunar New Year.

  • Bancroft Elementary School (4563 St. Urbain) on  Wed. Feb. 4  (9:30 am)  
  • Coronation Elementary School (4810 Van Horne) on Friday Feb. 6 (10 am )
  • Gardenview Elementary School (700 Brunet) on Mon. Feb. 9  (9:30 am  and 10 am) 
  • Parkdale  Elementary School (1475 Deguire) on Wed Feb. 11 (9:20 am)

For the first time in four years, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the  English Montreal School Board resumed its traditional Long Service reception to honour  employees with 25 years of service at Le Crystal in St. Laurent.   A total of 136 employees, ranging from teachers, administrators and support staff, were recognized for a quarter century of service.  This year EMSB Director General Nicholas Katalifos, honored those employees with a letter of congratulations and Monarch watches.  “For the past 25 years, your dedication to education, your diligence and your contributions to the English Montreal School Board has benefited many students and staff, " he said. EMSB to recognize Volunteers of Distinction and present Lifetime Achievement Award

Montreal, April 16, 2025 - On the occasion of National Volunteer Week,  which will be marked from April 27 to May 3, the English Montreal School Board will hold a special  reception and ceremon to honour two Volunteers of Distinction, as well as the presentation of the  Lifetime  Achievement Award.   The program will take place at the  St. Pius X Career Centre (9955 Papineau) in Ahuntsic on Tuesday, April 29   where the honourees, their families, EMSB commissioners, management, in-school administrators and Parents Committee executive members will be treated  to dinner catered by the culinary students.
